Simulator assessments are a fundamental part of being an airline pilot, but it's no secret that no one likes being examined! However, by understanding what the check day entails, we can reduce our stress levels as we enter the briefing - and open up the opportunity to maximise our performance.
In this training session, I'll be giving you a very unique insight into the examiners' mindset, and demystifying the check profile - showing you what items we need to cover in the pre-sim briefing, clarifying the flying accuracy limits that must be met, and what the examiner can and can't do during the check - plus much more. By gaining this very unique insight, we can give ourselves the best opportunity to excel in our next check.
The on ground emergency decision making process often forms part of most checks, but can also be a factor in airline selection. It's also a great way of shining a light on our ability to work under pressure, manage our workload, and make decisions whilst under that pressure. Bringing you these leading edge opportunities to take advantage of, is just one of the many benefits of being part of the exclusive Airline Pilot Mentor Programme.
In this training session, we'll enhance our on ground emergency decision making by first understanding what actually constitutes an on ground emergency, discussing common mistakes made by crews, and then exploring strategies which we can practically use to optimise our decision making process. This will be followed by a demonstration, to show you an example in real-time.
Our On Ground Emergency Decision Making: Part 1 training session was very productive, and provided the practical strategies that will enhance your on ground emergency decision making.
In this training session, we’ll be putting those new skills to the test, as we run through a variety of live and interactive on ground emergencies - exposing you to scenarios that would normally only be available during traditional simulator training. This is just another of the unique and exclusive benefits of being part of the Airline Pilot Mentor Programme.
It will enable you to practice your time pressured decision making skills, whilst optimising your core competencies.
Calculating landing performance is something we do multiple times in a working day, but when the conditions become marginal, any gaps in knowledge can be magnified. Having a thorough understanding of the various calculations is vital in order to stay safe, and operationally robust.
In this power training session, I’ll be refreshing your knowledge of landing performance, and providing you with the practical knowledge necessary to keep your operation safe and efficient.
Weather radar is an essential tool - so critical, that if it’s unserviceable the aircraft is typically grounded. But even with this invaluable equipment, incorrect use can lead to poor situation awareness and potential safety risks.
In this training session, I’ll be highlighting the common mistakes that I frequently observe, and sharing practical tips to optimise your weather radar usage. You’ll walk away with actionable insights to enhance your situation awareness, and improve your overall safety margins.
Flying passengers around the world can be a real pleasure, particularly at any time of the year when we're taking people on holiday or reuniting loved ones.
But occasionally, one or two of those passengers can create problems that we have to deal with.
In this training session, we'll explore a variety of reasons why passengers become disruptive, and the way in which we and the cabin crew handle the situation, which can have a profound impact on the outcome.
Resilience is universally accepted as a vital skill which all pilots require in order to operate to the highest of standards. But how do we build this resilience?
This is a question that many struggle with, and the practical steps that you can take to enhance your level of resilience, are often not spoken about - until now! In the unique and exclusive Airline Pilot Mentor Programme, we’re going to change that!
In this training session, we’ll be running an industry leading interactive resilience training session, that will provide you with the tools necessary to build your resilience - and enable you to perform at the highest standards - even in the most challenging and dynamic of environments!
Practice makes progress, and here in the unique Airline Pilot Mentor Programme, we get to run through tailor-made scenarios to put your skills to the test - whilst in the comfort of our own surroundings, with an experienced examiner.
The opportunity to explore a wide variety of challenging scenarios in a positive and interactive environment, brings with it a multitude of benefits and performance boosting abilities, that will enhance your proficiency over time.

The Command Upgrade process is one of the most demanding - but also one of the most rewarding - milestones in any pilot’s career. Success requires thorough preparation - both technically and mentally.
Throughout your APM Package, we cover a wide range of topics designed to strengthen your command capability. And now, you have the opportunity to enhance your preparation even further.
In this training session, I'll be joined by guest speaker Maria Petersson - known to many of you as PilotMaria on Instagram.
Maria has recently completed her Command Upgrade course, and will be sharing valuable insights from her experience - including practical advice, lessons learned, and unique guidance to help you optimise your preparation when your time comes - as well as providing her experiences as a new line captain. This really is an excellent chance to gain a first-hand perspective from someone who’s just successfully completed the process, and one of the many exclusive benefits of your APM Package.
Having spent thousands of hours training and examining crews in both the simulator and the aircraft, one thing is clear - Workload Management is the foundation upon which all other core competencies are built. And as such, if we want to not only operate safely but also excel in what we do, it’s absolutely vital that we have practical, proven strategies that will enable us to manage our workload when the going gets tough.
In this training session, I’ll be teaching you the real-world, tangible techniques and strategies that you can immediately apply to your own operation - both on the line and in the sim - that will enable you to stay ahead of the aircraft, and perform at your best when it matters most.
Situation Awareness is one of the cornerstones that the other eight core competencies are built around.
Having the skills which enable you to comprehend the world around you and project that into the future, is absolutely vital if we want to not only remain safe, but also excel in a career that is more competitive than ever.
In this training session, I’ll be providing you with time-proven, practical and easy-to-apply skills that will enable you to maintain and enhance your situation awareness, and share that high-level awareness with those around you.
Having the ability to make timely, safety-critical decisions doesn’t just enhance safety - it also significantly enhances the likelihood of success in your next simulator assessment.
In this training session, I’ll be providing you with tried-and-tested practical techniques that can measurably enhance your decision-making competency - these are skills and behaviours that you can add to your operation, which only the top-performing pilots exhibit, and can help make sure you’re one of them!
In Part 1 of our Core Competency Optimisation: Decision Making training session, we focused on practical techniques to help you measurably improve your decision-making skills in normal operations.
Now it’s time to take things up a gear!
In this training session, we’ll be introducing new techniques to measurably enhance your non-normal decision making - where clarity, confidence, and structured thinking make all the difference.
You’ll discover time-proven strategies, used by high-performing crews, that you can immediately integrate into your own decision-making process. These are tools designed to help you stay ahead, when it matters most.
This is a must-watch training session, before your next sim session!
